May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls & Two-Spirit in the US, while October 4th is the official date in Canada. However, the Indigenous Women’s Council would like to acknowledge both! Members of the Indigenous Women’s Council – including PAFNW, IRSSS, AMCS, WAVAW, VACPC, UBCIC and City of Vancouver – will be supporting the Canada Wide MMIWG event at Vancouver’s City Hall on May 5, 2021 at 12:00pm. Please wear red, bring your drums and wear a mask. This will be a social distanced event.
To participate virtually, visit PAFNW’s Facebook Page to watch the livestream or click here: www.fb.me/e/36mD0XFdL. Show your support online by wearing red and posting a picture on social media with the hashtags #NationalDayofAwareness, #MMIWG2S, #MMIWG, #MMIW and #NoMoreStolenSisters.
